Plymouth-based Securi-Guard’s reputation as one of the UK’s leading security monitoring companies has been further enhanced following a contract award from innovative ‘pay-as-you-go’ car insurance provider insurethebox.

An NSI Gold accredited company, Securi-Guard will monitor the telematics tracking device fitted to the cars of future policyholders with insurethebox, which saves the motorist money – and protects their vehicle against theft.

Slightly bigger than a mobile phone, the so-called ‘Clear Box’ measures a motorist’s driving performance and distance travelled. The lower the mileage and the safer the driver, the cheaper the insurance.

But what gives the Clear Box added value is that it also acts as a tracking device so if the vehicle is stolen its position can be pinpointed by Securi-Guard’s operations room staff, who can then help police locate it, normally within 24 hours.

“We looked for a partner that was flexible and willing to work with us, as well as obviously having the expertise and capabilities to deliver a high quality monitoring service for our policy holders,” said Andrea Natali, Telematics Project Leader at insurethebox.

“I am delighted to say that Securi-Guard was able to demonstrate the necessary criteria to meet all our needs in terms of this contract.”

Pete Stanley, Head of Telematics for Securi-Guard said the contract award was another example of the security company’s ability to supply bespoke services and be flexible to an individual client’s needs.

“This is not just about providing monitoring services, it is so much more than that,” said Pete.

“It is about working day-to-day with clients to really understand their business model and what they are trying to achieve, so we can play our part in helping them get there.”

Securi-Guard will help support insurethebox’s stolen vehicle recovery service. If a customer’s vehicle is stolen they obtain a Crime Reference Number (CRN) from the police and pass it on to insurethebox, who then alert Securi-Guard’s monitoring team.

From its award winning NSI Gold CAT ll Alarm Receiving Centre at Estover, Securi-Guard will then locate the car thanks to the technology installed in the ‘Clear Box’ unit.

Securi-Guard already has a long-established track record for Europe-wide vehicle tracking services for a number of respected industry clients, as well as the monitoring of intruder alarms, CCTV and lone worker devices – all to NSI gold standard.

Plymouth-based Town & Country, which has been an established player in the city’s property sector since 1997, runs two separate specialist branches for lettings and for residential sales, which are now operating under the same updated branding.

A DESIGN company has taken a primate onto the payroll.

Mr Monkey, a capuchin, won’t be swinging by their Tamar Science Park premises, though.

The creature is instead enjoying life at Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary. Real Fusion is the first business to adopt a resident at the Looe charity since the scheme was launched last year. Mr Monkey was rescued by the Looe charity when his owners emigrated to Portugal and had to leave him behind.

Unlike the UK, Portugal has outlawed the keeping of primates as pets. Mr Monkey was troubled by self grasping and over grooming due to his time kept as a pet.

“He now leads an active social life with his monkey friends at the sanctuary,” a spokesperson said.

Hayley Dann, head of income generation at Wild Futures, said the charity was under great financial strain and needed more help then ever due to increased demand for their rescue services.

“We are over the moon to have Real Fusion on board as our first corporate adopter,” she said.

“It is a fantastic mutually beneficial scheme and we hope that more businesses get involved.”

Justin Smith of Real Fusion said Mr Monkey was just right for the company because he was “a ball of energy”.

“We are proud to support the work of Wild Futures and be linked to such an innovative and green thinking charity,” he said.

Giving back was important to the company, he added.
